Resource Guide

The following are free or very affordable ways to improve your physical, mental, and spiritual health. Everything that I suggest, I personally used and use on a regular basis.

Books By Topic

Fibromyalgia

The Fibro Manual: A Complete Fibromyalgia Treatment Guide for You and Your Doctor by Ginevra Lipton, M.D. This author got fibromyalgia while at Tufts University School of Medicine, and went on to develop the Frida Center for Fibromyalgia.

Life Beyond Fibromyaglia: A Personal Guide for Moving Forward and Leaving Struggle Behind by Elaine Merryfield. This is a dear friend of mine who suffers from fibromyalgia and runs groups at the Frida Center for Fibromyalgia.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

From Fatigued to Fantastic by Jacob Teitelbaum M.D. A must read about root causes of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Can be helpful for anyone with a chronic illness.

Healing from Autoimmune Conditions Using Food

The Wahls Protocol by Terry Wahls, M.D. She developed Multiple Sclerosis and was declining quickly on medications. She created her own nutrient dense diet plan to heal herself. She is in full remission.

The Paleo Approach: Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body by Sarah Ballantyne, PhD. The author has a degree in biophysics and researched innate immunity, inflammation, and gene therapy. She was very ill, and was able to heal herself with her education and food. Very thorough explanation of the causes of autoimmune disease.

Cooking for Hormone Balance by Magdalena Wszelaki. This book taught me more about hormones, than any of my doctors. Applying the principles helped me to heal my endometriosis.

Energy Medicine and Mental/Emotional Support

Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality by Donna Eden. This book is strange, if you don’t understand that we are essentially molecules of energy. This book really helped me to cope with being empathetic and learning to detox from EMFs (which I am very sensitive to). It is virtually a text book about energy healing.

The Power of Not Yet: Living a Life of Endless Possibilities by Donna Pisani. This is a book about how life may not look how we expected it to, but God still has a plan for us. God can use us, even if we aren’t well. Your life has meaning, whatever it may look like.

The Creative Visualization Workbook: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life by Shakti Gawain. If you are open to healing fully and leaving your illness behind, this book is important. It helps you to create a vision for what wellness will look like for you. Without it, we can get stuck in a loop of suffering and worst case scenarios.

Switch on Your Brain: The Key to Peak Happiness, Thinking, and Health by Dr. Caroline Leaf. This book explains the power of the mind to heal us and gives a program on how to do that.

The Healing Codes: 6 Minutes to Heal the Source of Your Health, Success, or Relationship by Alexander Loyd PhD. and Ben Johnson MD. This book explains a mind and body technique to heal your body. One of the authors, Dr. Johnson, was developing ALS (Lou Gehrig’ disease) and healed himself with these techniques. The other author, Alexander, helped his wife heal from long-term disabling depression with the Healing Codes.

100 Days of Actions and Intentions to Create the Life You Wish For by Susan Balogh. What we choose to believe affect how we feel. This book contains guided mantras and action steps to promote healing and building a positive mindset in any situation. I really enjoyed “I am Cultivating my Energy,” “I Choose Wellbeing,”and “I Sleep Restfully.”
